About Me
Let’s Get Acquainted
Dr. Charles McMillan received his Bachelor of Science in Pre-Veterinary Medicine with a minor in Biology from Delaware State University and later earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the prestigious Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM) in 2012. Dr. McMillan served as TUCVM’s Human Animal Bond/Animal Behavior (HABAB) president and has a keen interest in the likeness and differences between human and non-human animal behavior.
Shortly after graduating from TUCVM, Dr. McMillan earned a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists then spent four years practicing at two large referral hospitals in New Jersey, practicing both general and emergency veterinary medicine. Currently, a small animal practitioner in suburban Atlanta, he enjoys writing about issues of race and culture in veterinary medicine and the techniques and practices for establishing a healthy workplace ecosystem. Dr. McMillan has presented on the national level and sits on an editorial and scientific advisory board. Dr. McMillan and his wife Tara, a corporate attorney, have three sons—Luke, Isaiah, and Noah.
